Public Utility Commissions and Regulators often are faced with complex and highly technical decisions and assessments as they set policy, develop financial requirements and monitor performance. At times this involves litigation and negotiation. Georgetown Consulting can provide specialized technology, financial, engineering and operational support, information, consulting and analysis for a multitude of regulatory matters and litigation support. We can provide support for rate of return and regulatory policy issues in numerous proceedings involving gas, electric, telephone, water and waste-water utilities.

In Telecommunications, regulators are often faced with measuring the effectiveness of Telcos. in providing quality service at the state level. These measurements may include such metrics as service order quality and missed due dates. Missed orders have historically been a high priority, and orders with dates over 30 days are important to all commissions. The code 4 rate is also watched closely. These and other measurers can ultimately lead to "show cause orders" which require a response from the various Telcos for a detailed plan to improve service. Georgetown has the professional expertise to analyze these plans and provide an independent assessment of potential success. Prior to show cause orders, many commissions contact Telco informally with emerging problems so as to head-off larger problems.
Georgetown has skilled Telecom managers and engineers with decades of experience that are capable of providing planning and/or designs to meet the changing communications needs of governing bodies.
